Learning is one of the most worthwhile ventures people undertake in their lives, no matter what the subject matter. Many sayings emphasize this importance and state that one is constantly learning throughout their life. While this is true, one cannot truly learn unless they have learned the fundamentals of the thinking process, which includes critical thinking. The basis of any subject matter needs to be critical thinking for without that skill no real knowledge will be gained since all that has been achieved is memorization of facts. While that can make one smart, it does not mean that they have learned and grown as an individual. In order to facilitate the learning process, I will engage and encourage students to think critically about the subject matter we are working on. Doing so will enable the student to continue learning even when they are on their own and will give them the tools they need to be successful in their educational career. As I help provide them with these skills, I hope to also engage the student and show them that learning can be intriguing. Learning is my passion and I hope to show others that it can be worthwhile and fun to learn. As learning is my passion, I have spent the past 3 years teaching abroad in both Germany and China. These experiences have given me the opportunity to implement both my skills and beliefs into my teaching method. Now that I am back in the United States, I hope to share my passion for learning with others in the area. To this end, I will coordinate with the student in order to create learning plans that are not only unique to the student, but that will encourage both their desire to learn as well as their critical thinking skills. I look forward to hearing from you and to create a plan to help your student grow intellectually.
